Seeking help...

Hello, readers! Seventy-five poets are now signed up to read at Urban Epiphany.

I am gathering names for volunteers to sit at the sign-in desk for either 30 minute or one-hour shifts (your choice), and for someone with poster design/printing capabilities (a large scale laser printer which can do 11 x 14 would be ideal).

The Poetry Project's New Year's Day marathon was the one which inspired Urban Epiphany. There's no page for the event, but it's a useful site.

All 263 email invitations to the 2008 Urban Epiphany have been sent! Did you get yours? I've veen getting reports that Yahoo! is sometimes sorting these into bulk mail. If you are expecting one which hasn't arrived, check there.

Phone invites always take longer, since my phone phobia doesn't allow me to make more than a few calls per day. If you know I usually call to ask you, and you're reading this, why not drop me a comment? Thanks.

Volunteer Needs

Things are shaping up beautifully for April 29. Over 70 poets will be reading.

I still need a volunteer or two to sign in readers, probably mostly the 7-8 hour, and bodies to set up or fold up chairs before or after would be great.

We still lack a videographer but are happy that Richard Wicka's ThinkTwiceRadio.com project will be recording the audio for broadcast online.

Finally, postermaking and printing are desperately needed in these final two weeks. Anyone?

Call for Volunteers (and other support)

Urban Epiphany often recieves support in the form of donations of services, though all the donation from the door goes to rent for the hall, and expenses such as the purchase of video tapes.

This year, I am running the thing alone and am hereby calling for volunteers.

Needs:

* 1/2 hour before event (2:30), help set up (arrange chairs, check mic, set up table, etc)

* 1 hour shifts (5 in total) to sit at the table to sign in readers

* Possible: time keeper, again in 1 hour shifts.

* Videographer - a 5 hour job, mostly focusing the camera and replacing the tape when it is is close to full. Any money left after hall is paid will be tendered in your direction

* Small amount of grant funds to support transferring previous years video to digital format, which can then be archived and indexed.

Calling all Western New York Poets: Urban Epiphany 2007!

Urban Epiphany is Western New York poetry marathon! All poets are invited to read for two minutes each. Last year, over 100 poets participated, in what many call their favorite event of the year in Buffalo.

The reading will take place Sunday, April 29, 2007, from 3-8 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Church at 695 Elmwood Avenue (at West Ferry). Suggested donation is $5 (covers the hall and incidental costs).

To sign up, send an email to urbanepiphany at gmail.com requesting the hour you'd prefer, and providing any contact information. Poets can also sign up for a two-minute slot during the event (limit, five slots per hour).
